This path is every bit as steep as it looks! For a flatlander use to about 850 ft elevation, climbing out of this at about 7500 ft elevation was a challenge. I took my time.

It is hard to realize how much color is in the rock until you get up close, either in person or through a photo.

One of my favorite view points and it was a treat to be there at moonrise.

There's something about the high desert blue skies, they seem to be bluer than anywhere else. There's also something about the magical light that illuminates these sandstone hoodoos (especially at dawn). I had not seen that quality of natural light before visiting Bryce Canyon. The air was crisp, the skies were clear, the vista was perfection.

Bryce is a great place with much to explore and many a scene to photograph. I went for the second time last summer and enjoyed the very unique scenery. It also has one of the cooler National Park lodges I've seen, although the famous Ruby's Inn just outside the park is a good bet too. Take a hike away from the rim--the further you go, the more the crowds thin out. Also, don't miss the secluded Mossy Cave trail on Highway 12 outside the main gate.
