Pigeon Point Lighthouse is lit once a year (usually in November) using the original freznel lens. Producing A spectacular array of lights, the usual "best moment" is at the beginning as the light is held still to display the beams which show up better if there is fog. This unusually clear night helped produce this setting after the light began to turn at it's normal rate producing a flash every 10 seconds with it's 24 flash panels. The two bright objects in the sky are Jupiter and Venus. This was Nov 2008. In 2009 the light house was reportedly not lit due to cutbacks.
