I like using filters to enhance both the color at sunset and exposure difference between skyline and foreground. I usually try and shoot a variety of frames, with different filter combinations and without any for creative choices. The combination of the singh-ray three stop on this image gave me a wide latitude for exposure difference and ability to get some detail in the foreground. Other than some slight adjustments in overall contrast and saturation, this is the result of the combination of filter use in camera...the same as using a polarizer or any other filter to enhance your options during capture. I had sort of wished I had a one stop gnd for this image, but the stark contrast made a dynamic difference.
The natural plantlife that grows along the banks of the Niagara River is what you see on the American side of the falls and why I really love our park...they have tried to leave things as natural as possible for a tourist area. This has been a controversy over the years, as the Canadian side is much more commercial and there are many who would like the state of NY to make the US side much the same. This image shows a stark contrast between our "natural beauty" of the falls and the city skyline of Canada's Niagara Falls. I think the blend of both worlds is beautiful in it's own right.
